A webinar or satellite symposium is a powerful tool to connect to your target audience and bring your message across. Of course, the costs can be quite high, so how can Medical Affairs maximise the impact of these educational events?
💡 Define your message: What do you want to convey? What change of knowledge and/or behaviour do you expect from your audience as a result?
📢 Maximise reach: Who is your target audience? Is it global, or would you like to focus on a specific region? What is the best way to reach them – at a popular meeting (symposium) or online (webinar)?
⏲️ Optimise timing: Sometimes the timing is just right: you have a novel treatment that everybody is talking about, and anything you do will gather crowds. But even if there is no hype (yet!) around your message, you can align the timing of your event with data releases and other important milestones.
👩🏫 Select faculty: Yes, they are renowned experts, but are they good speakers? Can they capture and hold your audience’s attention? Are they passionate about what they do, and do they sound excited when discussing your topic? Finally, if you have two or more speakers, think about their chemistry – will they work well as a group?
👁️ Invest in engaging content: Remember to adjust your content to your audience’s educational needs, taking into account their background knowledge level and their preferred learning styles (think verbal, physical and social learning!).
📆 Plan in advance!
